Description
Artificial Intelligence has entered almost every part of modern life, and education is no exception. From students using AI tools to understand difficult concepts to teachers using technology to create learning materials, AI in education is changing how knowledge is accessed and shared. But with this transformation comes an uncomfortable question: Is AI actually destroying education and learning, or are we blaming the technology for problems that already existed? The answer is more complicated than simply saying AI is good or bad. Generative AI can produce essays, explain concepts, summarize information, generate code, and answer questions within seconds. At the same time, excessive dependence on these tools can reduce opportunities for students to think, struggle with difficult problems, and develop knowledge independently. UNESCO has similarly highlighted both the opportunities and risks of generative AI in education, calling for a human-centred approach.
